We've had the feeder for going on a year and it's worked great for us. The voice recorder is a little tricky to figure out (you have to press and hold to record while you're NOT in the settings; to turn it off, push it quickly once while IN the settings), and yes, it's not the best recorder ever, but if you talk close to it it picks up voice easily (look for the little round hole.)I'm not sure if it works right if you set it for the same time every day, so I have them at reverse intervals (07:15, 07:10, 07:05, 07:00.) I am sure you _can_ set them at more than 24 hour duration because I used to program it for twice a day (07:00, 19:00, 07:00, 19:00) and it ran every time it should every day.It is a one-cup capacity if you fill it pretty full. I would not recommend all-natural) wet cat food in this at all: it's not sealed and there's not enough room to put in an ice pack or anything to keep it cold, so future servings arrive pretty cruddy. That and the hard-to-figure-out instructions is the reason why I'm taking one star off. It easy to wipe clean if you do use it for wet.The battery back-up has been great: haven't had to change the 4 D-cells yet, and it's nice to be able to unplug it without losing the programmed times when cleaning it out. The last reason for the minus star is that it will lose the current time if you turn the switch off--though it does keep the four programmed times.

I bought this automatic feeder because my husband and I started to travel more and we wanted to keep the same routine we apply on our daily basis while we are away. I saw some other feeders where some people mentioned their cat/dog was able to remove the lid. I still did not have this issue. It closes really well, so I don't think this is something you should be concern about.You have 5 compartments, but you cam program 4 different times where the feeder would open the next compartment to provide your pet with food.One part of the lid is opened, and when it is time to feed your pet, the lid will turn clockwise and allow your pet to eat.It is working really well, it's very easy to use and the feature I like most it's that you are able to record a message to your pet (If I am not mistaken, around 10 sec). I recorded what I normally say when it is time to feed my cat and once it is done, when it's time for your pet to eat, the feeder will play this message. I tested it a couple of times and it worked! lolNote: If you have a blackout situation where your home electric energy stopped working, the feeder will not work and in case the issue is resolved, the feeder will restart and you will need to set the times again.Hope you have the same good experience I am having.

We purchased this feeder for our outdoor cat, hoping it would not only feed him, but keep out the raccoons and possums. It only took 2 nights for the raccoons and possums to figure out how to get the lid off and eat all of the food that was leftover in the 5 trays. Also, I should warn you that this unit isn't meant to be outdoors - we rigged ours up underneath an awning in a Tupperware box to protect it from the elements. I initially recorded a message on the unit to alert my cat the feeder would be rotating, but hearing my voice and not seeing me show up to feed him totally freaked him out, so I left the message blank after that. I'm still giving it three stars because it's a decent unit. It's user-friendly and easy to figure out, but it just wasn't what I was hoping for.

The feeder isn't strong enough for certain dogs that like to chew things. My 4 month old puppy easily chewed the top lid off and chewed the part where it clicks back. So now we can't use the machine anymore. The feeder needs more work in regards to proofing pets from scratching and chewing it.However, the customer service of this seller is great! They asked if I would like a refund or a replacement. I definitely recommend this product to more mature dogs who aren't in their teething phase. It is definitely a great idea for people who have a busy schedule.

The idea for this item is great. It's just a shame it doesn't work as promised. I was unable to get the recorder to work, which was a major reason I chose this model. The feeder portion of the does work as promised and the item is very easy to load. Programming feeding times was simple, too. I thought about returning the feeder for the smaller model without the recorder (since it wasn't working anyhow), but I like having the 5 separate dishes available for my pets. I would not purchase this item again.

Everything works as advertised. Just wanted to point out a few things. Though you can put 5 meals in this thing, you can only program 4! Because one is already open. And there are only 4 programmable time slots for meal. All the times are in 24 hour format. No AM or PM, like military time. This may be an issue for some of us. And finally, don't expect the recorded quality to be much good.Other than all these, it works and very easy to program and operate.

While I loved the idea behind it, I encountered too many issues with this product not to warrant a return. I didn't have any batteries laying around so I relied on the power outlet while I had it. I would fill the slots with a pinch of cat treats, and I had no issues setting the current time or the meal times. The voice recording wasn't worth it for me, and I think the noise actually scared my cat. 50% of the time, I would either wake up or come home to the device beeping incessantly with the EE:EE error code flashing on the display. Frustrated cat mom, unhappy cat. The seller, however, was most gracious when I contacted them, offering to swap it out. (Maybe I just got a freak case.) I decided to return it and got a different/more generic 5 slot feeder from Amazon for half the price instead, which I love!
