This is the first year liquid lubricant is allowed and after a ton of research, I determined that Krytox would be the best liquid lubricant. After I paid $40 (after tax) for one ounce of Krytox GPL 104, what showed up was a bottle much smaller than 1 ounce. A liquid ounce by volume is 1.85 cubic inches, and the bottle that showed up has a 1" Diameter and is 1.8" Tall. If you do the math on that it comes out to 1.41" Cubic Inches or .76 Fluid Ounces, and that doesn't even account for the rounded corners at the top and bottom of the bottle or thickness of the plastic bottle. To top it off, it is a clear bottle and when tilted onto its side it arrived only about 2/3rds full (see picture). I also compared this bottle to a 1 fluid ounce bottle I have of some rat killer and there is an obvious size difference (see picture). I emptied the rat killer bottle and filled with water 8 times to yield exactly one cup (8 ounces), so I can confirm that it truly is 1 fluid ounce. I busted out my digital calipers and did the math on the Krytox bottle to calculate that what arrived was only about .43 fluid ounces, much less than half of the 1 ounce as stated on the description. Maybe the seller is saying this is 1 ounce by weight, but that information is not divulged anywhere in the item description. Furthermore, despite receiving less than half of what I paid for, I decided to lubricate the axles of my son's pinewood derby car anyway. While the lubrication was fair, it was not any faster than the an identical car (mine) lubricated with dry graphite powder that can be bought anywhere for $5. In fact is was about 1% SLOWER than graphite in literally every test run.Now I have seen that they make a Krytox GPL 100 and upon further investigation, the 100 vs 104 designation delineates the viscosity of the Krytox oil, GPL 100 being MUCH less viscous than the GPL 104. The cSt viscosity (don't ask me what that means) of the GPL 100 is 12.4 at room temperature and the GPL 104 is 177 at room temperature (or 14 times more viscous). Maybe the Krytox GPL 100 IS a better lubricant and suitable for Pinewood Derby Axle lubrication as it is less viscous, but I cannot attest to that. I can only say that Krytox GPL 104 is not a better substitute for Dry Graphite. And certainly not at $40, when you receive far less than half of what you pay for. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Costly but worth it *by B***L on Reviewed in the United States on March 19, 2023* Yeah, it's outrageous on the price, however, I use this as an initial thin coat application on FEP resin printers. Then add resin and this stuff stays. Even after multiple, multiple prints. A few drops will do ya.
