It fits very securely under the lip of the bottle lid and has an adjustable cord for extra security. You have to use something to kind of pry it on with ( I used the handle of a spoon) but it only took seconds to get it on. The para-cord handle is very comfortable to hold, but is detachable if you just want to use the shoulder strap. The shoulder strap is adjustable and also detachable. Both handle and strap have sturdy metal clips that seem very durable.
