Suggestions?** A: Return it...So far mines is working **Q: Can files be copied directly to a usb flash drive vs. to the PC and then flashdrive?** A: No. The device doesn't have a USB-to-USB port (or SD/SC card slot). **Q: Are the digital voice recorder batteries replaceable?** A: No. The batteries are internal, charged via usb. **Q: How is voice activation turned on?** A: It will automatically turn on when there is a voice but sometimes it turns on with noise. For basic recording, this little unit picks up conversation well--so for school use, it is probably worthwhile. The recording quality is pretty good.The User Instructions are very poor, so you need to be able to figure out how to use this unit pretty much on your own. Example: "For more durable of the battery, please charge when there is only one bar of battery. Do not charge it when battery runs out." (What???)Be advised, that you must wear headphones or ear buds to listen to what you have recorded. I was not aware of that when I bought the unit--maybe I missed something. This is a low cost option--so I might be grading it a bit hard.
