I'm not exactly sure what the difference in performance would be, I know charcoal has been used successfully for a long time. I use the new one with carbon, and I've been really happy with them. I guess you could try the classic first, then you could buy a package of the carbon packets when it's time to replace them. :-) **Q: How many times you can reuse this?
