I prefer to drill a small pilot hole in the wood, so as not to split older wood, or make the screws too hard to put in. But of course, leave enough wood (don't make hole too big) for the screw to grab enough wood to be in securely. **Q: What is the country of origin?** A: I really can not remember. I just know we moved into a new house and I ordered a lot of items and just about everything was from China. And considering the military gets a % of every shipment made from China I have started being more selective about my orders. And it has been hard finding items NOT made in China, even in the local stores. Family Handyman web site might have a DIY option. Good Luck **Q: Will these hold a 100 pounds a piece or is it a 100 for a set?** A: Not sure if they’ll hold 100#. I’m just using mine for lawn chairs. They are pretty sturdy though. The only issue I had with them is every time I pulled my chairs off of they the plastic cap on the end would come off. Black electrical tape took care of that issue. **Q: I installed my brackets in drywall with anchors and screws, but they don’t seem secure; they wiggle back/forth. Aren’t they supposed to be tight?** A: If you can't find a stud in the wall and have to use an drywall anchor/ then it will be able to wiggle it using leverage. It would probably hold something that isn't moving and only pushes down on the hook. You will have better results if you use "toggle bolts" instead.
