Secondly, although some people complain about the top, I find it to be the best I've ever had. I use it for hot coffee and your really don't "drink" hot coffee, but rather you "sip" it. This is perfect for sipping. Also, some people have complained about not being able to tell if the top is open or closed, however, I have found that it makes a slightly different sound when opening than closing, so I haven't had a problem in that regard by simply listening. Lastly, some people have complained about the longevity of the top. I can't speak to that yet, so we shall see. I am hoping it lasts, because that last factor will allow this tumbler to be, in my opinion, the best on the market if you love hot coffee! When I first started using it, I tried to do just that and quickly learned that taking it apart (without breaking it) was a “no go”. Up the upside … my workaround has been pretty effective. When I feel that the lid is need of a cleaning, I lock it in its open/drinking position and let it soak for a while in a small bowl filled with sudsy warm water. I’ve had good luck using Dawn dishwashing detergent. The lid comes out clean, fresh smelling, and ready to go. Good luck.
