It then discretely sends the data to AmbientWeather.net over your ethernet/LAN connection. This low draw network device is ideal for offices, labs, shops, remote monitoring, second homes, or vacation homes where a local display is not required, although optional displays can be added (WS-5000-CONSOLE, WS-2000-CONSOLE). The wireless sensor array features a pagoda thermo-hygrometer radiation shield with passive aspiration for the upmost accuracy, a bubble level for plumb installation, and a solar panel. It connects to the console via RF (915 MHz) up to 1000 ft line of sight in open air (300 ft under most conditions). The wireless signal will not pass through solid metal, earth, or ground. The sensor array mounts to any pole between 1.25 and 2" diameter with adaptive mounting bracket and U-Bolt design that can be tightened to your mounting pole (not included). Is snow included in measurement?** A: No snow is not measured unless it melts on the unit. Precip is rain or mist that collects and falls in. **Q: I assume the Lightning Detector does not show up on the display unit?** A: The lightning detector will shown on the main display **Q: does this unit need to connect to a wifi network to be able to transmit the data to mobile app?** A: Yes. And the wifi network has to be 2.4 GHz. And once you’ve done that, there are steps to do to connect your station to Ambient Weather and Wunderground. Once you’ve done all that, you can log into Ambient Weather on the app and see your data. **Q: Is the console needed to get the sensor data? Can you get the data from the sensor array using only wifi?** A: The sensor array communicates with the console using proprietary wireless technology. The console uses WiFi to communicate with the outside world, my console transmits to the Weather Underground site. There is *no* link between the console and my desktop PC.
