They initially look glittery when first applied but dry to a more solid look, and you can touch it once it's fully dry, but I'd still recommend wearing gloves the whole time you work on kits. The yellow gold seems to have an orange clear paint in it to give it the darker hue, this paint raises to the surface and settles in panel lines which effectively does the panel lining for you, but may bother some people, I did a test and you can remove this layer with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol, used very lightly, but it's really hard to get out of panel lines without removing the gold and at that point you might as well have just used the white gold to begin with.
