The cushion that is about 1.5" thick is great! The thinner cushions are not useful for me. I have 5 or 6 of them. I use them mostly for kneeling on in the house or outside. I have one one each floor of the house, the garage and the car. If I have to put air in the car tires I can easily kneel by the tire without getting my pants dirty or having my knees scream in pain. I get the orange ones so they are easy to find. They do not seem to hold water and they spring back to their original shape after kneeling on them. **Q: Does it float? (thinking of using it in a kyack - NOT as a life preserver)** A: It will float but definitely not a life preserver **Q: is the 1.5" version two layers or one?** A: The 1.5" is one layer. I use these to kneel on and have one one each floor of the house, the garage and the trunk of the car.They are very durable. The orange ones are easy to spot. A great product! **Q: I noticed all of the current reviews say that this is a poor 2-piece glued design for the 1.5 Inch. Is this true still?** A: My Therma-seat is 1.5 inches thick. It is not glued -- it is a single piece of foam. I have several and use them mostly when I need to kneel on the floor or ground to do something. They are great. I think the size is just right and the weight is inconsequential when clipped to my day pack. The only modification I made is to use some double stick tape to add a scrap of cloased cell foam packing material to the bottom. I live and go outdoors in the desert. There are no shortage of stickers, needles and thorns here.
