Setup & App - Setup was very straightforward using the Tapo app — plug in, connect to WiFi, and it was ready within a couple of minutes. The app walks you through everything clearly, and I didn’t need any technical knowledge. Energy Monitoring - The energy monitoring feature is the standout for me. You can see real-time power usage as well as daily and monthly stats, which makes it surprisingly easy to spot which devices are using more electricity than expected. Smart Features - Scheduling and timers work reliably, and the “Away Mode” is a nice touch for making lights switch on and off when you’re not home. Voice control with Google Assistant also worked straight away without any issues. Build Quality - The plugs feel solid and don’t block neighbouring sockets on my extension lead, which was something I was worried about. Things to be aware of - Works on 2.4GHz WiFi only (common for smart devices, but worth knowing). The energy data is informative but doesn’t replace a dedicated smart meter for full-house tracking. **Q: Power reading does match appliance rating. Has anyone properly tested the accuracy of the power monitoring feature?**
A: Tested in a way. Run low powered equipment over 24 hours, seems to be accurate for about 5 watt/hour equipment.  Not tried on high powered kwh .

**Q: Can these be used in outdoor plug sockets for garden lights ?**
A: The sockets are not rated to be outside unless they are in a water proof box. Look up IP ratings for electrical components.

**Q: I cannot connect the plug to my phone. I have tried 2 different phones but it still wont connect. Anyone have a solution?**
A: I have a few of them and they all connected. Also I shared connections with other phones in my house. Haven’t had an issue with any of them

**Q: Can anyone tell me if this smart plug works on 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz? Thank you.**
A: Iv had these for about 2 weeks and they work only on 2.4Ghz.

Used these while on holiday to remotely turn lights on and off around the house. Helpful for both home security and giving our kitten light in the evenings. Super simple setup and compatibility through the Tapo app and they connected instantly. Very easy to switch on and off through the app. Scheduling and away modes are useful and energy tracking is a nice bonus. Excellent value overall.
