And the filters actually produce clean water. I'm glad I finally invested in the Berkey, because no alternatives worked for me. I am concerned about buying replacement filters, but I trust that won't be necessary for some time. To be honest, I was most impressed with the instructions provided in the kit. It was easy to set up the Berkey and it filters water much faster than I expected. (And the red dye test worked - they provided dye for that). The container can be full in an hour or so. I have over-filled it a couple of times despite having the gauge spigot thing. (I don't fault the product for that). I regret not getting a metal stand to put it on for a quick wipe up of water spills. It sits nicely on the cube shelf I have, with the spigot hanging over the edge for easy access to water. But when I have a spill I have to move the whole thing to clean up the little spill. (Keep it mind it's too tall to sit on a kitchen shelf with cabinets. It's 19 inches tall and you refill it from the top.
