This decorative and if the thinness is a problem you can always layer the sheet or another blanket and let the covers be more decorative. I personally like that the blanket is not thick and stiff like many toddler bedding sets. It’s also larger than standard crib blankets. So it can last longer. That being said I would not recommend the set for a crib because the blanket is too easy to get tangled in or suffocate with infants.
