Review: The Greatest Software Testing Book Ever Written - I interview so many QA engineers who have been brainwashed by the companies/leaders they work for because those companies lack a clear understanding of what software testing should look like. And then those QA engineers feel trapped and short-changed when they interview at companies with higher bars for quality. If you have any gaps in your QA brain, Kristin Jacknovy just gave us all a tool to find them before it's too late. I honestly think this book should cost thrice what I paid for it! When I worked as a QA manager, I was pressed with the task of growing my QA engineers, but all I had was my experience/expertise to go by. At that time, there wasn't a manual/course that I trusted that really explained what software testers should do to grow their "QA brains." Sure, there are lots of video courses or literature out there, but what I have read/viewed has missed the mark. Kristin does a wonderful job with this book: it's informative, accessible to ANYONE who interacts with or executes testing, and written in a very down-to-earth and friendly tone. I am not a manager today, but if I were, I would have purchased it for all my QA engineers, developers, product owners, and leadership. Many non-testers look over at their test column of their sprint board impatiently waiting for stories to get tested because they don't understand what thorough testing really looks like. I have heard non-testers say things like, "Why is the testing taking so long to test this one form/button?" Kristin answers that with this wonderful book. She doesn't explain things in a cold, dry voice; she articulates her best practices like a friend or trusted co-worker would. If I could hit the reset button my QA career and start over, I'd only do it if I could take this testing companion with me. I'll continue to hone my own QA brain using this book alone because there's so much in here that I could use to improve my testing practices and the quality of bugs I find. I've been in the industry for over 8 years and I am learning a lot; not just tips and tricks for testing, but also from reading about Kristin's perspective of testing, bugs, APIs, etc. Her excitement for software testing comes through and has helped me reconnect with the joy I felt when I first got into software testing. Now, I can use this book to level up my testing skills to make me a more well-rounded QA engineer. If you're still reading this review, do no sleep on this book. If you're working in a mostly front-end, manual testing role, do not sleep on this book. If you have tense bug discussions with your developers, this book can help. If you think you know a lot about API testing, this book might humble you. If you want to get into automation and don't know where to start, Kristin's words can help you. Good luck and happy testing!
Review: Kristin Jackvony has written a great book for anyone interested in testing software! - I absolutely love this book! I sometimes buy books with the best intentions but never get past a chapter or two. I'm happy to announce I'm way past chapter two already and I just picked this book up. I find the short length of the chapters really help me stay focused on the topic at hand and allow me to concentrate on them instead of allowing life's distractions cause me to continue to put the book down. As for the contents in the book I've been in QA for over 6 years now and I'm finding helpful tips in each and every chapter. I'm grateful to this author for taking the time to put these wonderful thoughts down in such an easy to understand manner. I look forward to continuing to read this book and plan on implementing these strategies to our companies' testing efforts to give us better coverage.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Testing Book
*by J***O on September 29, 2023*

The topics are short and to the point. So much is covered in this book and you don't have to wade through page after page after page on a subject. Many areas of testing are covered in a couple of pages each. I'm a retired software quality engineer looking to take on a few contracts, and I wanted a refresher book available that covered a lot with explanations and specific examples. I got it here. This book will be a key contributor for me to feel comfortable in areas of testing I've not worked in for a while.
