I'd never heard of capers as an edible noun. It made me think of the old Batman tv series. But I dutifully typed it into Amazon's search field -- and lo and behold there they were. I thought they looked a little like tiny olives.So we've been cooking with them now for about 2 years. They are preserved like pickles or olives but their flavor is different. It's a strong flavor and you don't want a lot of them in your recipe.I like to put them in cold, mayo-based salads like chicken it tuna salad, potato or egg salad as well as using them to add some brightness to blander casserole dishes.
