A list I had practically forced him to make since I'd be away for a week having fun while he'd be stuck at home doing the day-to-day. I made my stops at the bookstores and (I cant emphasize this enough) *confidently* passed up all the paperback copies I found. I quickly learned that I had messed up. I did get some good-natured ribbing on the fact that I'd been so adamant and eager to get him something, then completely drop the ball. Until I caved and let him know that I had panic-bought this collection. I doubt I'll ever live it down, and the memory will stare me in the face for as long as these books adorn our bookshelf. In any case: Each book is in excellent condition and was well packaged. They came tightly bound together with no chance of bending. They are all the same size, so they look very nice on the bookshelf as well. The spines all match, with a slight variation for the Lord of the Rings trilogy (similar to the cover). Other than that, my husband has been busy reading and thoroughly pleased by this collection. The inclusion of the Lost Tales and the Silmarillion were definite bonuses. Very quick delivery! I wouldn't have been able to get the whole collection at any of the bookstores I went to, nor were the ones I had found the same size, spine design, or condition. I searched for hours on Amazon to find something similar, and this was the best option by far.
