## Description

Each soapdish was hand made near the small village of Tabaka in the Kisii District of western Kenya, where there is a large deposit of mineral steatite, or soapstone. The local people have carved pipes and utensils from this material for many years. Now they carve assorted items sold around the world. As these soapdishes are handmade from a natural product, each one is unique with variations in rock pattern and hue.
