My old GPS dash mount (that I used for years ) had the wrong size support ball. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ It was frustrating. I almost threw it out, but thankful I finally got it to work. *by M***Y on January 12, 2024* I upgraded from a Garmin DriveSmart 55 to a much larger DriveSmart 86. The ball socket on the new mounting bracket was too big for my existing dashboard friction mount, and I did not want to change mounts, so I needed this adapter. At first I thought I purchased the wrong adapter. I could not get it onto my old mount. I tried just pushing it onto the smaller ball and no luck. I then grabbed the ball mount on this new adapter and twisted it. Instead of the the outside plastic sprocket at the other end loosening, the ball mount started unscrewing from the part that should snap onto the smaller ball mount. I almost tossed it in the garbage. But finally, I screwed that ball mount part in as hard as I could, until it stopped moving. Then when I twisted the other way, the plastic sprocket at the other end finally loosened and came off. I then was able to attach it to my old mount and it works perfectly now.
