Sugar is especially a deal-breaker for me since I use these oral probiotic tablets at night, after I've brushed my teeth and I am settling into bed. Sugar would cause tooth decay. A lot of other products contain inulin, which gives people gas. It certainly has this effect on me -- even the little bit in a probiotic tablet is enough -- so it's another ingredient I try to avoid. Others contain xylitol, which can also cause gas and diarrhea. Or sorbitol, which guess what: also causes gas and diarrhea. It is unlikely that the small amount of xylitol or sorbitol in one of these tablets would be enough for a significant adverse reaction, but since there are better alternatives, why ingest them if you don't have to? Stevia and sucralose are better alternatives. Or simply not using a sweetener at all. These probiotics use stevia, which is fine with me. The benefits of the probiotics, no adverse affects, and they taste great. I was happy to find the Simple Biotix cinnamon flavor. I am sorry that it did not work.To be fair, before writing this negative review, I did write to the seller, Healthy Directions LLC to ask them if the product may have been affected by sitting in a hot mailbox in 95 degree (F) summer heat. They responded by sending me a copy of Amazon's shipping policy. Not very helpful.So to recap: the SimplyBiotix did not work at all. The PRO-Dental brand stopped my chronic sore throat within days of starting it, and it gave the added benefit of fresher morning breath.***EDIT 15 July 2018....***The company, Healthy Directions LLC, has given a full refund of this product. I judge the probiotics by the health of my sinuses and mouth/throat. After taking these for several weeks the mucus in my nose and throat increased instead of decreasing or staying the same.
