Like say a 3month old?** A: Yes, as long as baby is safe I would say you could use until the age they are moving on their own. If filled a little less it could even be used more like a traditional bean bag chair. **Q: What are the dimensions of the travel size bean bag once filled?** A: Hi, Great question! The dimensions are 32" Wide x 10" Tall, but the size really depends on how full you decide to fill the Beanbag. We designed the pull-away zipper on our Beanbags as a safety feature, so that young children and babies cannot access the bean filling inside. We strongly recommend pulling the zipper pull off after the first filling. If you ever need to open the beanbag to fill or un-fill like you mentioned above, simply attach a safety pin to the zipper pull and then remove again after opening or closing again. Definitely a word of caution when filling the bean bag and I suggest having someone help. I was able to fill it with ...I’ll say minimal mess considering the potential for disaster. I just cut the corner of the Big Joe bag and had someone help holding the fill bag. A lot of static starts getting these little balls flying everywhere. The bean bag it’s self seems soft and of good quality. When I do take the zipper off, I will use a safety pin to open the bag up, if I need to refill. I DID order the filling that amazon recommended and I used ONE bag and a TINY bit from the second bag.
