I bought this after all my other methods of training & correcting my GSD weren’t able to snap him out his hyper focused state to redirect him. He’s a good dog, one of the best I’ve had but refining his behavior / obedience skills was mediocre at best. After some weighing of different methods I got this. It is a game changer! Just a very quick snap (not too much force is needed - the collar does all the work) and my 2 year old GSD snaps out of his hyper focused or distracted attention and looks to me for what’s next. No more wandering off into the bushes to chase the ducks that drive him nuts, ignoring my whistle or tug on his martingale collar. He needed a more “bite like” sensation like a leader dog would do when ignored and this does it! Make sure you fit it properly, and only use it when on walks, actively under supervision during training sessions, and don’t leave it on them all the time as a regular collar. It’s just to help give a more clear correction versus constant nagging. The quick release buckle is secure, and great for those who have hand dexterity issues like arthritis. Links are able to be added or removed or added as needed for proper fit. If you do have hand dexterity concerns, you might need someone to help you with removing the links. I didn’t find it difficult, but my hands were swollen and tired from working with dogs all day and my arthritis was acting up - so trying to remove the last link took a couple of minutes, so be aware if you struggle. Once the fit is right and you no longer need to mess with the links and the quick release buckle makes taking it on and off between sessions or walks as easy as taking off a collar. The little guard that slides over the button prevents it from accidentally unlatching. As you should use this alone without another collar you definitely want it to stay on securely if you’re not indoors - and this helps to do that. This works great when used correctly. Already my GSD has a more consistent heel, better self-control when he sees other dogs (he wants to play and acts like a lunatic with his GSD barking which we hadn’t been able to get more improvement on until this). He responds positively to the corrections in conjunction with concurrent verbal corrections so now after just a week we rarely have to work the Herm Sprenger - he simply takes the verbal corrections/ cue. We bought the 20” neck size, as he is 18” neck, and ended up removing 3 links to make it a snug but not tight fit without the martingale part tight. So a very subtle flick of the finger or wrist on the least can create just enough pressure in the high part of the neck / head that he responds immediately. Great product and glad I bought it

Herm sprenger is a well known and trusted brand among the working dog community. The quality, effectiveness and durability withstand. There are cheaper less efficient versions of this on the market but they do not get the same results and can even present as more dangerous due to poor quality and durability. The safety clip is great for an extra layer of safety preventing the prongs from popping off. It also makes it much easier to clip onto your dog instead of prying off a prong every time. This collar will last a lifetime compared to the cheaper ones that rust and fall apart. As with every training device, learn your tools and become familiar before using anything. Once you understand how to use this tool safely, the rest will come with ease.

My low to the ground 40 lb dog is like a tractor, I was no match for him until I got this collar. It doesn’t hurt him, I don’t think it even pinches him, he’s never shown any discomfort. I’m a helicopter dog Mom and would NEVER do/use anything that could hurt him, but this collar makes him pay attention and has saved my shoulder.

This collar was an absolute game changer for me. My dog is young and strong and I am neither. I am nuts about her but I simply could not control her on our morning walks. I had to consider giving her up to a friend who adores her and would give her a wonderful home. Last resort I tried this collar - and OMG I could finally control my busy gal (70 lbs).

I like this collar overall. It's one of the better collars available for purchase. My dogs still tug some during walks, but definitely not nearly as much as without it. I would buy this again. Good quality; we've used it a few years now. I've recommended this to a few people now also.

This collar was very helpful when training my stubborn golden retrievers. Nice quality not cheap looking.

Just magnificent! My dog loves hearing it and I have never had to use a safey link because of breakage. Great sizing and fantastic buckle.

Very necessary for large powerful dogs!
