They should be comfortable, durable, nonskid, waterproof, easy to clean, and have a steel toe to keep patients and heavy objects from smashing your feet. If they also happen to be stylish, that’s a bonus. I have used many shoes in my career, all of whom had some shortcoming (the very comfortable K-Swiss shoes suggested by a mailman that would slide on wet hospital floors or the Indestructable steel toed shoes who’s outer Kevlar coating started to peel off within a year). But these shoes…With every pair of nursing work shoes I have owned, I have purchased a custom pair of Dr Scholls insoles for, to add extra comfort in a job that keeps you on your feet. I did for these as well, but it’s possible that this was unnecessary. I think they could have done with a little more arch support. But that is the only quibble I have with these shoes. The waterproofing, the nonskid soles, the steel toes, ease of putting them on, everything is just right. Tough, durable… I feel confident wearing them. They are a part of my gear, and when they finally need replacing, I think I will look to buy them again. Better shoes I don’t think I could have bought, but I could have definitely spent more money. I have in the past.
