My old blades were Dull, were broken some on 1 end, tried sharpening and just wrote them off as a Hazard as they were unbalanced being broken on 1 side. They work GREAT. Nice smooth cut, seems to mulch up the grass pretty good, little flakes of grass blows out instead of long blades of grass cutting taller grass with it. So it's doing it's job as a mulching blade. So not, just to wait and see how well my grass looks after a few mows and rain fall to see if it makes my grass look more full. Great price for duel blades, was easy to install, I used my Car ramps and drove my mower up on them because I don't have a mower jack to raise it up so it was little more difficult for me to install because of cramped space but fit snug and works great. Got rid of the standard blades, added an aftermarket side discharge plug, and have never looked back. No more piles of grass shooting off to the side. That I have to deal with after and I am putting the nutrients back into the soil. Installation fit like factory blades. They are sharp from the factory and cleanly cut right through a mix of cool season grasses. These blades have done a great job at finely mulching the grass and leaves, as well as evenly distributing the clippings. They have held up well after a season of cutting grass and now onto mulching maple leafs spectacularly. I have both a standard 3 system bagger and a yard vacuum we use in the fall for acorn/leaf pickup that sucks and mulches inside or simply sucks up stuff (acorns). Bought the 42" set and tried them out on leaves, they pulverized as advertised much better then the yard vacuum grinds them up but their is no way to pick them up without actually powered suction. A bagger will get clogged halfway up the tube before it reaches the bagger. Again no lift blades = no bagger abilities. **Q: Can you use these with a side discharge or do you 'have' to have the cover?** A: My mower has side discharge and no cover and work just fine these are good blades I have a Poulan 42" cut **Q: The blades arrived but the center mounting holes are diffent on each blade. One has the star center hole and the other blade has a round hole.** A: Sounds like they sent the wrong one they should both have the star center hole. I purchased these for the fall season to mulch up my leaves for the winter and added nutrients in the lawn. I tried to stay on top of the leaves (I get a heavy amount all season long) and it worked wonders. Sometimes with a heavy cover of leaves I would have to go over the same area a few times to mulch the leaves down to a small size, but that is more my fault and not the blades. I started the spring season having my mulching blades on. I usually wait a long time for the first cut to let the grass grow strong. I easily took 3"+ off my grass with these blades and it muchled them down too with great wind force to get them all bagged. Following week I did my routine cut (no more than an inch of growth) and it worked so well, I think I'm going to use these blades all year round. I just ordered my second pair because I ran over a small boulder. 1 Blade took some significant damage, and is off balance now. I wouldn't expect any blade to have survived what I ran over, and these still held up better than I expected, and I was able to finish off the lawn with still a nice even cut.
