Review: Pricey, but worth it considering the ride I just had - So basically I purchased Ryzen 7000 series back in October 2022, 7950x / Aurous Master X670E along with some DDR5 memory. Was ok, but had no end of issues with cold boot, USB dropouts ect. I already had a 3090FE and a 1600w corsair psu so more than enough for it to not be a problem. Upgraded to 4090FE in the last month - mostly the same as previous with the 3090fe I decide to try some certified ram but that turns out to be worse that the original stuff I got and ontop of that the Gigabyte board seemed to overwrite the EXPO settings meaning that it showed 4.1 volts on for DDR5 - I suspect that is due to the board and bios (though surely that should be locked?!?!, someone else on reddit had precisely the same issue with the same ram and same board), Returned that and ended up going back to my previous sticks. Fast forward to a few days ago I drop a 4th NVME drive in and find out that no matter what the top slot closest to the CPU always ran a half speed x2 vs x4, same regardless of the bios releases, reseating CPU ect. Even a 3.0 drive would stop the system from booting but would work in the other 3 slots. Sort out a return luckily even after this amount of time, so decide to purchase a MSI x670E Carbon (just my luck - DOA, desertcart must love me right now due to all the returns :/) So finally to the Crosshair - pop it in using all the same hardware (cpu/motherboard/gpu/memory/storage/psu) Not one issue - takes a little time to boot - but does so without issues, upgrade the bios to 805, no issues. USB mic does no drop out in same situation while in game. Wireless Keyboard Lag is no longer a thing, double typing or sticky key like I healed the key down. The board is expensive, the M.2 PCIE card I probably wont use, the lanyard is kind of dumb, they could of dropped half the stuff and made it a little cheaper tbh. But overall, solid and just works. Which compared to Gigabyte is a godsend, I had a x570 master previously and had loads of issues when I had that as well, I swore off Gigabyte but stupidly picked it up this time round. The MSI board being DOA - I can kind of forgive because you can just get some duds sometime but my luck has been weirdly bad :( The ASUS board does not have a TPM header - I was looking around but couldn't see any (easier when bios flashing ect, no need to go suspect Bitlocker protection) No biggie :P
Review: Built like a tank - I bought this mainly for music production. I use two sound cards (both PCIe 8x) so ample slots for my needs and also a graphics card. This board reduces the second PCI 16x to 8x if the first slot is used. No shared PCI bandwidth with SATA or M.2. Thumbs up - all PCI slots connect directly to the CPU. My set up: ROG Crosshair X670E Hero mobo. x2 RAM 6000MHz. 850W PSU. NVIDIA Graphics card in first PCI 16x slot. Sound card no. 1 in second PCI slot (speed reduced to 8x). Sound card no. 2 in PCIe slot (speed - 8x). All four M.2 slots used; I have no need for the PCI extender to add more M.2. but good to have if I need it in future. The box is huge and the mobo is solid - HEAVY! Built like a tank and feels robust. Plenty of cables, accessories and extras. I built a new PC from scratch, and it recognised everything so no issues. First boot is slow, give it time and do not switch off. Don't forget the jumper switch to stop cold-boot issues. Read the manual - especially the PCI, and M.2 section - to see what is disabled when using specific slots: i.e. AMD 9000 and 7000 CPU's have more functionality than 8000 CPU's. I downloaded the latest BIOS update from ASUS support page on to a USB (FAT32) and installed before going ahead and installing Windows. No LAN or Wi-Fi driver installed on the board, so I plugged in my phone and tethered the internet connection from that to install Windows 11. All the above are available on ASUS support page for the board, so good for research before buying. Easily able to set my RAM speed using EXPO settings. BIOS settings all familiar to me as I previously had X670E-A board. So far, no problems and my AMD Ryzen 9 7950X does not run too hot under strain (music production and rendering, I cannot comment on video rendering), and the chipset sits at around 50deg. PSU 850W - suitable for my needs. If you have a huge graphics card you will probably need 1000W. I bought a nice PC case and just have the mobo ROG lighting and AIO water cooler pump lighting. I do not want my PC looking like a drunk disco or the mothership coming to take me away (shame), so no fan ARGB lighting plugged in. Sometimes less is more. My set up is and looks professional and sleek. This is just my set up and others may have different needs. DO NOT even think of touching the AM5 CPU pins on the mobo!!!!!!!!! Treat that area like it is nuclear.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this ryzen 5000 series compatible out of the box or will i need to use a older cpu to flash the bios?**
A: Short Answer: NO

Long answer: BIOS can be updated without a CPU inserted using the BIOS Flashback utility, just add power cables to board, plug a USB with the latest BIOS on the stick and press and hold the Flashback button until it starts flashing, then just wait.

It's worth noting I did have some initial difficulty, but this was caused by using an older USB stick, so if BIOS simply isn't updating try another stick.

Hope this helps!

**Q: Will this motherboard be compatible with a amd ryzen 3700x cpu?**
A: No, its AM5 only, so 7000 series

**Q: This item is listed as the x670e-f but the picture is showing the x670e-a box, so witch one is it**
A: The title of this listing which states the model as X670E-F is wrong, if you order this motherboard you will receive the X670E-A as shown in the pictures & product description/features section

**Q: Do it go with power and power light wires**
A: If you mean for the ATX Case these are usually provided with the Case. Motherboard does however provide pins for this and additional aura lighting. No "light wire" cables provided..

### ⭐ Unreliable
*by J***E on 15 April 2024*

Worked fine for the first 2 months, suddenly has died. The only way to get the motherboard to turn on now is to hold down the CMOS button. Honestly avoid at all costs!
