PETG (polyethylene terephthalate glycol) is one of the most commonly used plastics in the world, but one of the least known. Perhaps the two of most common use of this material in very thin thicknesses is "blister packaging", or as commonly found in the clear plastic packaging formed around products that must be cut with a knife to open and transparent plastic beverage bottles.PETG is commonly mistaken for lexan or plexiglass due to its similar physical characteristics, (clarity and impact resistance)and may be used as an alternative to acrylic (plexiglass) and polycarbonate (Lexan) due to its relatively low cost and ease of fabrication. It is a clear, can be thermoformed (heat formed), can be cut, punched, stapled, glued, welded, has tremendous impact resistance, (will not break like acrylic), resist tearing and chemicals, along with being easy to print on.In thicker gauges the material can be used for furniture, displays, machine shields, viewing ports and numerous other applications.PETG can be easily machined with standard woodworking tools and joined with mechanical fasteners such as screws, rivets, nails, blots, etc. It resist cracking that acrylic is prone to and does not turn white or discolor when cold formed. It can be laser cut, waterjet, sheared, sawed or routed, and may be pressed in metal presses and retain its shape once formed. It also can be flame polished.Material: PETGShape: SheetThickness: 0.118 (1/8 inch)Width: 12 inchesLength: 24 inchesQuantity: 4Color: Clear, TransparentFinish: SmoothProduct Weight: 1.75 lbsNotes: Sheets have peel off protective plastic masking on both sides.
