The screw hole area on the magnet mounts gives you plenty of room to adjust the magnet to just the right spot. The magnet strength is just right for my application, which is a towel closet in my hallway. You'll need to install in a way where the magnet does make contact with the metal button, otherwise the magnetic strength won't be strong enough. I installed this on thinner pieces of old wood and I decided to use this product because I was worried that the stronger magnet products would eventually cause the wood to split.
