The caps are to keep larger bugs out that can swim through water, nor can the holes get much smaller with risking air being able to be released. Next, these are not meant to be used on wine bottles?!?!? they are to be used with stoppers/bungs on carboys and bucket fermenter's. Lastly, they are made of hard plastic, idk what cheep hard plastic is but they don't get any better as far as plastic goes. Thank you my rant is over...
