What inspired you to write this book? I have witnessed the struggle that working women go through while trying to balance home and career in their desire to fulfill all their dreams, and I wrote my first book to reassure them that with the right mix of attitude, support and perseverance they could have it all too. But as they progress up the corporate ladder or proceed to reinvent themselves at a later stage in their lives, I discovered that women face a different set of challenges and biases. Some of the social prejudices are subtle but extremely tough to break through, and some exist subconsciously in the minds of women themselves, when they unknowingly minimize themselves, suffer from the imposter syndrome or adjudicate poorly on their own behalf. I wrote ‘Lady You’re the Boss’ to tell all women that there are vast and unconquered opportunities still ahead of them and their best version is yet to come. 2. What is the one advice you would give to working women? To never give up. To constantly reinvent and reenergize themselves, and while doing so, dance to a tune of their making. The author beautifully laces these lessons into real life case studies. While the title and a few topics are contextualized from the perspective of working women, I recommend that this book be read by every leader irrespective of the gender. It would help each leader to reflect upon biases that they may be carrying and certain stereotypes that they may be falling into. The short and crisp writing makes the topics lively and relatable.
