I ordered the "Snowdrift" color. It arrived in perfect condition (always a worry with desertcart these days, sigh!) and it looked so much smaller than I expected that I actually measured it - yup, a full 16-inches! Now hubby can't hog the butter dish....I just roll 'er right around the table to my side....and there's always salt and pepper on the table now, plus a honey pot and a cinnamon/sugar shaker for our breakfasts. And there's even room for another item or two should the need arise. It is very well made and spins effortlessly. No wobbling! Spills will wipe right off the shiny surface with a damp cloth. When I got my ARSTAR I realized the it matched my countertops exactly. Same color, same design & made of the same material. I use an inexpensive plastic cutting board on my countertops & wouldn't dream of cutting directly on them. It's a lazy susan, not a cutting board. **Q: Does this lazy susan have a ridge on the edge, or is the surface completely flat?** A: It's completely flat without ridge on the edge. **Q: Can I put a microwave on this?** A: nope, not strong enough. it’s actually a fairly light weight plastic **Q: Is the top weatherproof?** A: This lazy susan is not granite. It is made of CULTURED granite. Cultured granite is technically a composite material typically comprised of granite dust, fillers, and polymer resins as its binder. Composite materials in cultured granite does not necessarily mean that it is any less or more durable than pure granite. Some composite materials in items can actually enhance its durability over the real thing. I can only answer with certainty that the top of this lazy susan is waterproof when used properly and in its appropriate setting which is indoors. That does not mean to say that it will withstand soaking in a puddle of water won't damage it because it may be possible for long soaks to seep into its underlayer. You also need to think about whether the metal hardware underneath may get rusty. Even real granite suffers damage and erosion from prolonged weather exposure. (Think of the grand canyon and how water has eroded the earth and rock over time to create the canyon.) So the top is waterproof because of the finish they have applied to it. However, I don't know if the top is weatherproof in the sense that it could withstand excessive amounts of water it could potentially soak in, or sunlight that could potentially bleach it, or wind and ice that could potentially erode its finish and ultimately expose is underlying materials for further damage once the finish is gone. Then there are temperature changes that could also cause the materials to expand and contract. I would say that there is really nothing on the market that is fully weatherproof. Even a lazy susan made out of pure marble will eventually have its polished finish erode away and stain after awhile; a pure slate lazy susan can still be susceptible to rust on its metal hardware underneath. However, this lazy susan maybe able to withstand the elements better than most common lazy susans because they applied a finish to it. The marble is very substantial. My only complaint is the bottom, which makes it rotate. It is made of a very inexpensive plastic, which makes me wonder how long it will last. I've seen lazy Susans the had marble and/or wood bottoms, but of course they are more expensive.
