He is not what you would call tech-savvy, but he plugged them in and was up and running within seconds, so I would say set up is very easy! Battery life seems good. One of the phones was left off the chargers for a couple of days and still had power when it was rediscovered. Presets are easy to input and the display easy enough to read.
