Review: Good stuff! - I have to be honest and say that I have not really used this item extensively yet, but I have plugged it in and had a little play around just to test it out. It's as simple as plug it in and use, which is great. The remote works well, and responds well with half push to focus, appears to be a good quality product too. I have not used the 'Hold' feature yet, but looking forward to trying that out at some point in the future! I went for this product over others, even though I had originally searched for a wireless remote for my Nikon D90. After reading what others had said about the wireless remotes being problematic as you need to be in front of the camera for it to be receptive to the remote. Since I bought this to use when I am out and about for taking images of things like waterfalls, being in front of the camera would have been an issue, but with this corded one I should have no problems at all. Plus with the cable it should hopefully be less easy to leave laying around and forgotten! Judging on the little time I have used this product so far I would have no problem in recommending it, and am pleased that it does exactly what I want it to!
Review: A great little device - A great little device to help you take super-sharp photos, when your camera is on a tripod (or securely fixed/clamped so it cannot move). The device fastens into a covered socket on the camera body. The initial fixing can be a little difficult but with a few practice goes it becomes easy. With the remote cord in place you can sit back and just press the button when you want a photo. I've found it great for taking star shots: after setting up the camera its just a matter of lying back on a recliner and pressing the button, and pushing it forward to clamp it on, then leaving for however long you require the exposure to be. The button can then be easily released to close the shutter. Its also been good for photographing birds in the garden: I focus the camera on the bird feeder, from the kitchen window and sit back. When a bird lands on the feeder press the button and you get the photo. A downside is the length of the cord limits the distance you can be from the camera, but its better than the infra-red devices which don't have this problem but have to be used from in from of the camera.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ MC-DC2 Remote Cord purchased for D7000
*by D***L on 29 November 2011*

Reading reviews on cheaper non-Nikon alternatives confirmed that I would only consider the Nikon remote. Having used the MC-30 for all my previous cameras and never having experienced any problem with it I knew the Nikon MC-DC2 would work perfectly. It is a different shape / design to the MC-30 but works in the same manner. Push button to expose or to select mirror-up and press again to expose. There is also a lock if using the camera Bulb setting for exposures beyond 30 seconds. The cord is long enough and my only concern is that it is a push-in "usb" type of connection plug which fits tightly but may still be pulled out by accident or even fall out if moving position and carrying the tripod with a mounted camera. The MC-30 that I am used to screws in securely. Other than that it works perfectly well and I chose this as it requires no batteries and has full manual operation which I prefer. I bought this for the Nikon D7000 and there a distinct lack of information here and on Nikon's own website which remote is compatible with the D7000. I can confirm that this remote does work with the D7000. I would recommend this remote to anyone looking for one and it's not expensive. The cheap alternatives may turn out to be a false economy. You don't want to be let down after saving just a few quid! You invested your money on quality Nikon kit. Don't pair it up with cheap accessories.
