Whilst I purchased this rod for a bit of sport, I'd certainly recommend this as an entry level rod for youngsters learning this type of fishing: Why be lumbered with a huge beach rod when there's so much sport to be had with a rod like this.? The 5.6ft is ideal for jigging and dropshotting for perch and smaller pike - every fish puts up a great battle as the action is so light. I can understand how some people might snap the tip, but if it's looked after (eg with rod protector sleeves) and not chucked around too much, I don't see any reason why it shouldn't last many years of use. Liked the rod so much I bought one for my son.
