I do iron occasionally without steam if clothes are just lightly creased. Once the trigger is pressed is constant. See the demos in you tube for clarification. However I can tell you that it could probably be the more advanced model than this one and it may offer 5 settings for ironing. My previous Tefal steam generator was the top of the range but I found that I did not use all of the features and that is why I purchased this model. My model does not have a sprayer, but again my last one did and I never used it because the steam is more than enough. This model also allows you to have an extra burst of steam if required. The GV8962 more than suits my needs and I have not been disappointed in my purchase.
