It’s a very worthwhile one for lighter use if you don’t wish to spend to much money. When I received this one I put it on the lowest setting and it took my wheel nuts off with ease. Ide never put them on on the highest setting as I’m sure this animal would rip them apart. This mammoth monster weighs over 3.6 kilograms with a battery on so is extremely heavy but it’s quality at it’s very best. I like the way you can turn the lights off on this as I’ve always found that to be just a waste of battery power. This monster is bigger and heavier than the snap on I used to have and I strongly suspect more powerful. Makita have really gone to town on this. Tbh I probably didn’t need one this powerful or expensive but on reading the reviews on it thought ide just buy it. So if your looking for a monster that’s not going to tell you it carnt get that nut off this is the kiddie for you. Cheers** A: one 1/2dr the other 3/4dr with different torque **Q: Has it got variable speed?** A: Yes it does. Has 3 speed settings on base below trigger grip. Literally tightens anything. For what I do I also over tighten the nuts so it snaps the floor bolts clean out of floor. Effortlessly. Impressive piece of kit **Q: Can you control the speed of this to tighten wheel nut then wrench to the desire spec or will I need something less powerful** A: You should *NEVER* use an impact wrench to *TIGHTEN* a nut to a torque setting, no impact wrench is able to tighten to any kind of precise torque. To tighten to a specific torque - and wheel nuts should always be tightened to a specific torque - you need a torque wrench not an impact wrench. This particular impact wrench is an absolute Godzilla of a thing - I was using it initially to install 400mm long coach bolts which it did with ease but if I didn’t lubricate the coach bolt with soap or washing up liquid sufficiently it would happily snap the coach bolt clean in two. I haven’t had a fastener yet that this thing won’t either undo or simply snap clean off (which is much more the fault of the corroded fastener or me - the user - not the impact wrench). This really is probably about the most effective battery powered method of *REMOVING* stubborn or seized fasteners that I’ve come across without going to commercial grade air tools and a commercial duty compressor. **Q: What noise should this make free run not under load** A: Personally I find it sounds like any other Nakia battery drill and deliveries a most excellent performance. This impact is exceptional well built, and extremely powerful. It will destroy normal sockets be warned. I paid for a Makita impact set and glad I did. It is a heavy brute and you know you are hefting it if holding it under a car out stretched. It has not failed yet to shift a bolt or nut. I used it to spin off a 36mm nut off if a L200 drive shaft that had been on for 178000 miles, whilsted off much to out surprise! Wheel nuts are so easy, I suspect if you wanted too it would easily strip the treads if you kept on.... It is expensive but buy cheap! and buy twice! (or three times in my case).
