The advantage being it is softer for the dog and more ergonical for the groomer. My soldier is very thick coated and this slicker used in short strokes cleared the dense coat and even better he was very comfortable with it. No more lookin at ,me to say it was uncomfortable or scratchy to his skin. I wished I had this when I was at the grooming salon doing over 5 dogs a day as my arms and the dogs comfort would have been so much better. I have not tried this on shorter coated yet.
