Review: Increased comfort. Saving money while keeping a constant temperature. - Upgraded my old setup 2.5 years ago. I was looking for a while to change old TVRs for a smart system in order to be able to maintain a stable temperature in the baby room. Turned to be so good that I later bought 3 more smart radiator thermostats and now have one in living, kitchen and all 3 bedrooms. Good stuff: 1. Easy setup. The Smart TRVs themselves also super easy - screw on, for those who never changed one before, don't worry, no water leaks involved, you just screw off the old one (valve stays closed) and screw the Drayton one instead. I did mines even with a bare hand. You might want to add a half turn maybe with a corresponding key if you have it, but make sure to add something soft in it to not scratch the metal bezel. 2. Per room temp control. This brings up great flexibility. You can set up individual temperature for each room. This is exactly what I do, a bit higher for living room and kitchen and cooler for bedrooms. - So you have an option to maintain 24/7 same constant, comfortable to you temperature in any room, without overheating or overcooling it. - Otherwise you can set up a convenient schedule instead, to have particular temperature at certain time, which is also convenient - for example waking up in a warmer house and then switching it of while you're at work, but heating the house back while you're on the way home so that you get back in a cosy place. All this functionality is truly amazing and convenient, and really improves comfort. 3. Great value for money. If you're going to check other brands and try to get/build a similar kit (tado, nest, bosch, etc) - you will pay a lot more. Also, for example with google nest you don't have it's native TRVs so you get a smart thermostat, but one only, basically for the whole home. Also, money wise I am pretty sure in 2.5 years that I am saving money, as I'm seeing similar bills but after energy prices went up. All this while having constant temperature in every room 24/7 without any worry or plan, or need to heat & wait, etc. Basically set and forget. 4. Simple yet functional. Here to mention both TRVs and the app. Smart TRVs - Two AA batteries in and you're good to go.You have a plastic wheel / physical control with either + or - , which will send you're current temperature 2 degrees up or down. - Physical control lock. A very convenient thing for small kids. Mine were unlocked by default and I could not understand while heating was on several times and overheating a particular room - when I later spotted my little one just playing around with them :) so a simple "lock" from the app sorts this out. - Open window detection - to close the valve if a draft is detected. In fairness precision of this functionality is questionable. At least I did not feel it's reliable. Maybe if the temperature drops really fast, like a open window when outside is much colder - then maybe yes. Otherwise don't rely on it to save you :) APP I do like the app. It does not break any records or win app "grammys" but it's simple enough with decent functionality. - Easy add or reduce temperature to any rooms where you have a smart thermostat - Easy boost to any room, 30 mins, 1,2 or 3 hours + off. - Setting tailored schedules for both temperature and time that can vary during the day. Also, saving this schedules and being able to toggle on/off the usage of the schedule can also be very convenient sometimes. - Eco and comfort mode. With eco the app is trying to maximize efficiency of your system by learning your usage patterns, while in comfort the idea is simple - if you want for example 20 degrees when you wake up, the system checks the inside & outside temperature and makes sure it starts heating in advance so that 20 degrees are achieved when you wake up, and not just the heating starts at that time. - You get informative energy efficiency graphs and how the outside temperature correlates with the amount of time the heating was on - on a certain day - THINGS TO NOTE: 1. TRVs battery life. I've noticed that with constant temperature set 24/7 (no schedules) - the smart radiator thermostats go on and off much more often in order to maintain the set temperature. I don't know if it will reduce life of the thermostat itself, but it defo reduces life of 2 AA batteries :) Checking the app two batteries make it through the winter/cold season here in Ireland - but defo would need a change after that. 2. Connectivity is not perfect. My hub is at ground floor, so the ones at first floor show 2 out of 3 signal and the attic shows 1 out of 3 bars. Same time, maybe slightly delayed but looks like all TRV are receiving the signals/commands from the hub as they switch on/on and do the job to maintain the set temperature. Still, keep in mind that depending on your house size this might be something to keep in mind. I think I've seen some range extenders from Drayton to cover up in case you need it. To wrap up: Overall, the amount of advantages for the price you pay makes it an amazing investment in your home. The comfort and convenience + long term saving you money & paying back for itself. Not many purchases give you this much value really. Not perfect but something that I've extensively tested and can responsibly recommend. Stay warm and cosy friends! Cheers!
Review: Effective, money saving smart heating. - Great product, well packaged and really easy to install and add to my Wiser smart heating system myself without the need for paying tor my heating engineer to install it. Paired easily with my wiser hub and has enabled me to control the upstairs as a separate zone to the downstairs just by replacing a normal TRV with this smart one. Took less than 5 min following the easy fitting and calibration instructions. Setting up a schedule is really easy too. I intend now to buy additional smart trv's which will give me the ability to control other individual rooms. BrilliantCost effective

## Features

- Simply screw off/on existing TRV radiator valves and replace with Wiser smart thermostats to expand your current system. Works with 90% of existing valves. An adaptor to fit the Danfoss RA valve is included in every box.
- Add up to 32 smart radiator thermostats in up to 16 different rooms/zones. Begin with 1 radiator thermostat and add more over time. 1 Thermostat required per radiator for maximum comfort and energy saving.
- Full heating control can be monitored and schedules updated via the Wiser App (IOS and Android).
- Use voice commands to check the status and make changes to individual rooms or groups of rooms. Fully compatible with Alexa, Google Assistant and IFTTT.
- Open window detection turns off heating if a window is open. Twist top allows manual override of the schedule via the radiator thermostat.
- Average connectivity range is 25-40 feet but will depend on location of Heat Hub and thickness of walls. For larger houses or houses with thick walls, we recommend the Wiser Smart Plug to help extend the range. Wiser is not suitable for gravity fed systems.
- Smart radiator thermostat is powered by 2 x AA Batteries (Batteries Included). Expected to last around 12 months, dependent on battery type and the amount of interactions with each device.
- Wiser is not suitable for gravity-fed systems

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can you connect to the wifi/app without the Hub?**
A: No, the hub connects to wifi. You then use the app to connect the thermostat to hub.

**Q: Will the starter dual zone kit work with existing radiator thermostats or will I have to buy the Drayton ones, so I’d have to purchase both items?**
A: You need to replace the radiator thermostats with Drayton Wiser ones.

**Q: Would drayton switch off all zones (trvs) automatically if i only need to heat water in hot water cylinder?**
A: Yes. The hot water channel is independent of heating. If no Wiser TRVs or Wiser room stats are calling for heat, the boiler will still heat the water if the hot water schedule is on and the cylinder stat is below temperature. There should also be a diverter valve in your system that ensures water only flows to the hot water cylinder but not the radiators if this is the case.

**Q: Hi, can i use this with any radiator ? is it compatible with netatmo thermostat ? thanks in advance**
A: You can use it on any radiator that’s alredu got a thermostaticly controlled valve (you unscrew that one and screw this on instead). As regards Netatmo - whilst I can’t say for certain, I think that’s HIGHLY unlikely - many other thermostats only replace the ‘room stat’ and therefore control all radiators or none (adding app control but not individual room control)

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great basic smart heating controller
*by D***E on 16 March 2021*

We have a house with solid walls. Some rooms are warm and stay warm, others go cold really quickly. We had a Worcester 34cdi with old drayton RF controller built in, and at night the bedrooms used to drop way below the setpoint of the wall thermostat - not great for kids bedrooms - especially when mold started for form in the colder rooms, so had been looking at Smart control systems. (Insulation is a few £k so trying this option first) This kit came on a treasure truck offer few months ago so bought it, plus 3 additional radiator valves. Had to arrange an electrician to install the wall plate and the hub to the boiler... £60ish and less than an hours work. The rest is done via the app on your phone. Positives: -Responsive accurate control of the system -Able to have a temperature zone everywhere you have a sensor -You can create a schedule of times/temperatures and assign multiple rooms to that schedule, or you can have a schedule per room (as we do as our use of each room fluctuates). - Radiator valves (TRVs) *very* easy to install and setup (just observe the battery polarity markings!... as the typical "springs" arent the same as other appliances... I spent 30 mins trying to figure out why none of my valves was powering on...to see that the batteries were in wrong!). TRV up/down can trigger a 2c boost for 1hr for that zone. - If you have a TRV and wall control in a single zone then the wall control automatically overrides the heating-demand on the TRV itself. - TRVs are simple in that there is no pull out display like the honeywells. Just boost up/down twists to change current setpoint. - Not too loud... slight whir for split second when temps adjusting... eg if too cold you hear the valve open, then the heating comes on. If the boiler is on and they dont want heat... then they whir shut. - Make sure your valve-body pins are free... get pair of pliers and shift up down a few times with a little wd40 so the motors dont have quite as much work to do. - We have solid walls, but didnt need the range extender. Furthermost valve needed to be connected to hub a bit closer, but always responds to control now connected. - android app is intuitive and easy to make changes in; there are now also battery status bars for each device and alerts when getting low. Plenty of insights of how your house behaves thermally, compared with say the outside temperature and what rooms heat when. (Mine is saying to install a TRV in our lounge as we are overheating it constantly as its an "always on" radiator - which had suspected). - comfort mode works out over time what your room takes to heat vs outside weather and turns on the heating before scheduled time so it reaches the set point when youve told it to. Works pretty well IMO. - there is a "eco" mode but not tried it out. Apparently its turned our heating down quite a few times when not needed... time will tell if reduces bills, but we bought it more for comfort so that we didnt have to wake up in middle of night to turn heating up for the kids. - hub range pretty decent. Our hub is in our outhouse round back of house and we still get 2/5 signal upstairs at front of house; the rad valves seem to maintain decent connection just the app sometimes struggles. - each of the smart TRVs can be "locked" so can only be changed via the app... useful if you have little hands that like to fiddle with things that whirr and flash Negatives: ipad app: - layout... doesnt landscape when you turn the screen - doesnt have the "settings" options... for that I have to use my android phone... so wouldnt have been able to setup using our ipad. Also doesn't work with older ipads (we have a mini it wont install on, which might have been useful to just put on a wall in the hallway) Android app: 1. latest update... if low signal to the hub it sits waiting to connect to the hub before you can change any settings... previously you could go in, review and only when you came to change something would it complain about hub connection... now... it just blocks everything. Loathe to buy the range extender given its 1 corner of the house that has the problem and we are moving our boiler soon. 2. Initial setup - I couldnt create an account without the app being connected to my hub... so as such I couldnt do that side of things before my hub was actually installed All access is via the "app"... that is you have to have a phone/tablet to control the system with any granularity; there is no way to login online and make changes, even though you can control the system via the app when away from home. Only things missing IMO from the infrastructure are: - TRVs dont have a temp display on them (see honeywell). - a more advanced display control unit to upgrade to (see honeywell) - underfloor heating manifold (again...Honeywell) (we are planning this on our extension next year, so if not available will have to change systems, but for the price "right now" this is a no-brainer) - ability to login via a web-page and do all the same things the app can do So far so good. Id **thoroughly** recommend and would buy again. Update: replaced my lounge radiator lockshield with a wiser trv (for some reason this was our pass-thru, so moved them to the bathroom rad instead). Head registered then lights would randomly start flashing. +/- worked in opposite direction and then it disconnected and lights were flashing at random. Clearly a dud. Raised with Amazon who sent out next day replacement (which works perfectly) and now our lounge wont be epicly overheating whenever any other room demands heat. If you have a smart meter you can also integrate with that, but my supplier (BG Evolve) doesnt do smart meters - not sure how it looks on the app. I like the insights view shows you when heating was turned on or off during setpoint cycles. It shows external temp (from weather forecast) and internal temp in the room vs setpoint so you can see how outside temp influences internal temp and then when the system triggers. I guess it means you can look and see if its triggering when you arent using that room and adjust the schedule for that room - which I had done up front as our activity is fairly predictable 3 year (?) review: Still love the system... so much so... we hardly notice it tbh We have gone through a few sets of batteries so switched to 2800mah AA rechargeables - and the TRVs struggle a bit with power-levels as the voltage is ever so slightly lower than a non-rechargeable. I have had to disable power-low alerts as they were firing constantly. Drayton could update their TRV firmware to be able to self-calibrate for using rechargeable batteries. Changing batteries... if the signal is weak... then have to identify the TRV the valve off-radiator closer to the main control unit and then fit it back...network signal seems to be ok then. Maybe a suggestion for drayton: these are IoT devices... so why not allow use of a wifi network as a secondary connection from hub to devices?
