Review: Organ pedal notes at last - I am using KEF Reference 3 speakers (fitted with the long ports) which themselves have well-extended bass response and a total lack of boxy or honking colorations - and I speak as a past owner of Quad ESL 57s. However, my listening room is small and there is limited choice of speaker location, and although I get excellent imaging I have always felt the speakers weren't pulling their weight in the bass department. I was attracted to the SVS SB2000 subwoofer because of its reasonable price and excellent reviews: definitely worth a try, even though I rather expected problems with integration and, in the small room, disappointing extension. Because the KEFs are level down to at worst 50 Hz, I set the subwoofer cut-off frequency to that, its lowest setting. I placed the unit in one corner of the room, where it would have the best chance. I was pleased to find that at no time is there evidence of the presence of the subwoofer in the sense of sounds coming from that place in the room, and on programme material with normal bass content, such as most classical music, the subwoofer can be switched in and out without any perceptible change to the sound. But as soon as something out of the ordinary arrives in the music, it's there, and goes way below the 32 Hz (16 foot pedal C) that I'd hoped to reach. I had a lot of fun playing the opening 10 minutes of the otherwise dreadful movie Transformers, but the most breathtaking example I've come across is the Decca/Montreal/Dutoit recording of Respighi's Pines of Rome, fourth movement. Halfway through the movement I had always been conscious of something bassy happening, perhaps a bass drum being played softly. With the subwoofer, suddenly the room filled with a gorgeous felt-rather-than-heard organ pedal note that I had no idea would be there. During normal listening I am conscious of the subwoofer only occasionally, and always in sense of hearing something agreeable and knowing that the main speakers on their own probably aren't responsible. Apart from that, the subwoofer is just an anonymous black box in the corner.
Review: Excellent Sub for home theatre - Very good price, very quick delivery. Replaced my old 200w ported 8inch subwoofer. Didn’t want to go 12inch ported as they were generally too big for a “wife friendly” placement. I am not disappointed! Wow very powerful and low enough to feel. Great for my medium sized living room and only set to 30% on the gain.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: My speakers have frequency range of 40 Khz to 38 hz. How should I set up the "low pass filter" setting for this subwoofer ? ty**
A: Start with a 50 Hz setting. If you need more blend, increase to 55-60 Hz. You shouldn't require anything higher than 60 Hz. Ed M - SVS

**Q: Can anyone compared this to a nht b-12d, in terms of tightness and bass extention for music?**
A: First let me start by saying music is subjective to everyone. Second I have never heard a NHT B-12D in person. But I have read a lot of reviews on both. I actually own both SVS models (ported and sealed) The sealed enclosure is CONSIDERABLY smaller than the ported and honestly more than loud enough. I have a the ported sub in a much bigger room, but in retrospect the sealed would have been perfectly fine for both rooms. Unless you are listening to music and movies at voplumes that could be heard down the street, either should suffice. They are both tight, clean, and defined. But according to reviews, the NHT is equally good and similar in price so I honestly don't think you can go wrong with either choice. Not sure if we can link website reviews but I found these both to helpful:http://www.audioholics.com/subwoofer-reviews/sv-sound-svs-sb-pb-2000http://www.soundandvision.com/content/review-nht-b-12d#lbOIgDvkf8yXXQvl.97

**Q: How is the quality since it is made in china**
A: Doesn't matter where it comes from - the build quality is outstanding. I don't believe you can find a better (even comparable) price/performance mix. You'll need to spend $500+ more to match the SB2000 sound quality - so spend the extra $100 for the piano black finish - so fine...

**Q: Can someone help me please , on the back see line in red white for receiver reception ,where does line out rca go to ? what does it supply ?**
A: The SB-2000 has L/R line level inputs (use one for AV receiver applications). The SB-2000 also has L/R line level outputs. These are high-passed at 80 Hz (12 dB/octave).The line level outputs would only be used in a 2 channel stereo application (i.e., not an AV receiver or surround sound processor) with no digital bass management. The line level outputs are used to filter the bass <80 Hz from the connected loudspeaker amplifier and loudspeakers.Ed M - SVS
