It's soft but not so soft that it takes away from it holding a braid. It doesnt tangle, and the color is gorgeous. The picture of the braid was after me using half of it, I forgot to take a picture sooner. I used about 4 1/2 out of 5 packs. It also came with colorful and black rubberbands, gold and silver braid claps (The same ones used in the picture, a crochet needles, and some lashes.
