On a 1000 litre tank, I know that 1 bar is 100 litre. But is that at least 100 l to 199 l or only 100 or less.** A: For safety's sake I take it as 100 or less. I would prefer not to run out for the sake of 100 litres of fuel. Alternatively use a stick to dip the tank and mark the stick as each bar comes up on the watchman. After a few marks you'll get a good idea as to the amount left. **Q: after installation,showed full up, though tank was only half full of oil. what is the [problem and solution?** A: I'd guess you may not have calibrated the sensor for the tank size / shape correctly. I recall there was a process to set this. Otherwise worth checking nothing (eg bit of plastic inside the tank) is between the sensor and the oil surface as I think it uses ultrasound waves like a radar to bounce off the surface of the oil to work out how full it is. **Q: How long does the battery last?** A: Like all batteries the life tends to vary. The installation instructions only state they have a very long service life … but they will eventually need replacing. I got a new Watchman when I replaced my old tank over two years ago and it is still going with the same VARTA CR2430 Disc type battery. It is not difficult to replace but should not be attempted if the Watchman is still in the one year warranty period - if it appears to need replacing in this time then contact suppliers, as opening the battery unit will then invalidate the warranty. Not something that you should be worried about if considering the purchase of a Watchman unit which has given me excellent service over the years. **Q: will the watchman sudden level drop alarm sound if someone removes the sensor from the tank** A: I don't know the answer but imagine it would just cease to work. I have a double skinned plastic tank which has the Watchman inside the outer skin accessible through a lockable lid. This keeps the sensor out of sight and locked away, although I don't think it would take too much to remove the lock by force. We do have a dog which is probably a better deterrent for a would be thief. Prospective owners should be aware that if the alarm does sound it is not likely to wake anyone up as it is not particularly loud (well, not for me anyway).
