I've had a few clip on tuners and they always stop working quite quickly** A: No reason why you should break the clip unless you treat it badly. There are no springs or the like to stress the plastic as you set the holding pressure yourself. Tuning efficiency very good and can leave it in place while playing for quick tuning check. **Q: Would this fit a viola? Mine is 16 1/2, so quite big.** A: You should measure the depth of the instrument. I think 16 1/2 might be the length? Fully open, the clamp is about 4.2cm (1.7 inches). **Q: Would this work on an electric violin?** A: An old question, but for any future reference, it doesn’t fit on my electric violin because the body of the violin is not thick enough for the narrowest setting of the clip. **Q: Why when I try to tune string D it's displayed C?** A: The centre button on the top of the tuner sets the note letters the right way up when viewed from the end of the violin. Small enough not to upset stage work but maybe not for orchestral rules. Good strings (Evah) these days are very stable but this gives a confidence boost.
