The recommended age for the product is 3+ and many children enjoy playing with Magna-Tiles up to age 8. **Q: Are these compatible with Playmags?** A: I am so sorry but I have never had Playmags so I cannot tell you. Great for open ended play and for a wide age range, get used for farm buildings, train sheds, roads for cars, and pretty pictures. Some comments: 1. They have a tendency to totally collapse in a really frustrating way just as the child finishes something beautiful. In this regard, much less sturdy than, say, Lego. 2. They do get scratch marks on them, but it doesn't impede play. 3. They tidy up really satisfyingly, and are a great toy to take on holiday...lots of value per cm cubed. 4.
