I live in the country and can pick thing out perhaps half a mile away. They did enable me to identify an escaped eagle at 300 metres so I think for the price ok buy. However for stargazing not very good i found. **Q: 12x56 for star gazing any good ?** A: You will see a lot more stars but not the details of any planets. Planets look brighter but not bigger. This applies to most (all?) binoculars.
