Unfortunately, the quality of the brand I usually buy had deteriorated and the kettle wobbled violently on the base as it boiled. Therefore I decided to branch out and try a different brand - Breville - I remember we'd had items from this brand many years ago, so I thought I'd give this Kettle a try and I am so glad I did! It is very good quality and with a nice balance to the handle, even when at maximum - I have dexterity problems and I found it easy to pick up and hold. I wasn't used to removing the lid from a kettle (not since the 70's) and I wasn't sure about it, but its fine, I have even removed it just after boiling and covered my hand with a cloth to prevent steam burn (had one of those, and it hurts) I am also used to the water gauge being on the side of the kettle, but again that was easy to adjust to (the gauge is under the handle) The thing I liked most about this kettle is it didn't drip when pouring, my old kettle was very incontinent, when filling the teapot the water dripped from the spout, with the Breville, I have not spilt a drop, fantastic! I chose White, I was going to get Cream, as we have some 'cream' accessories, but really they are more of a Ivory, and one reviewer said the Cream was on the Yellow side, and I am so glad I chose White as it fits in perfectly and as far as looks go, its classy and looks more expensive than it was. It boils one cup in 45 seconds or there about and a full boil took a minute or two (didn't time it) but I prepped the cups and teapot and the kettle was boiled. It is not excessively noisy, but its not quite, but less noisy than my old kettle. I am actually glad my replacement kettle was rubbish, otherwise I'd never have ended up buying this Breville Kettle - I love it! Previously I have always just bought a cheap kettle (I'm talking around the £5 mark) and when my last cheap kettle started to go wrong and then had horrible brown stuff floating in it I decided to finally upgrade and pay a little more for a kettle than I had in the past.I had my eye on this one for quite a while and I'm so glad I finally went for it. Not only is it beautiful and so on trend at the moment, it's actually a really good kettle. As previous reviews have stated, it's a reasonably quick boiling time and the noise is less than my old one which is always a bonus. It's also considerably a lot bigger than my last kettle so you can get a decent amount of water in there. There's no water spilling out when reaching its boil, there's no leakage that you can often get with a cheaper model either. I also love the lid, it completely detaches making filling with water easy, but it also firmly secures once put back on and your safe in the knowledge that it wont fall off when pouring out boiling water from it.I love this kettle. So much so I have just had to purchase the matching toaster which again, I have no doubt I'll be just as happy with. Thanks breville and amazon!I'm an Amazon prime member so delivery was the very next day! My Daughter spotted this one and I decided there and then to purchase it. I am glad I did, because this kettle is perfect. Very quick to boil, nice and quiet, unlike some, and also I find it quite light, although I don’t over fill it. I boiled it a couple of times before use, and there has been no problems at all. No nasty taste.
