With a little trial and error, the look I wanted required at least 300g sand to 1000mL paint (just say one third sand to paint). 2 coats of paint were needed. I used Craig & Rose paint and that worked well. I like the fact the sand is white, which complemented the paint I used for the walls. I used a natural bristled brush combined with the dab technique. Employing the normal brush stroke method resulted in significantly bare areas devoid of sand texture. For a 6m2 room I used almost 2.5-3kg sand. When I redecorate another room in this fashion I will certainly buy more of this sand. My mother has seen the effect and now wants it for one of her rooms. Nor do we suggest it is. To dry flowers you would need Silica GEL which sometimes comes in sand form. **Q: Can this be used to for sparklers?** A: Yes!
