This fits the bill. Like true chenille is is a string centre with the chenille (fluff) over it, so yes it will come away at cut ends. Also yes if you pull too hard will snap, I only found this when tightening a magic ring if not careful. I had to undo many stiches and found no clumping of the chenille so was able to reuse yarn, other brands I cannot do the with at all. I used a 5.5mm hook for photo, you can see no gaps.
