In my experience they take a while before they start to work - I leave them dotted around the house and nothing really happens for a couple of weeks, but after that I begin to see the clumps forming in the crystals, which tells me they're starting to work.I've ordered two lots of these so far - the first lost I bought 6 months ago and they're still going, filling up with water that would otherwise be in the atmosphere in our home. I don't use a tumble dryer, so have washing drying in the house in the winter, and these dehumidifiers have really helped to keep the humidity down.As the first ones I ordered will be coming towards the end of their usefulness soon, I ordered some more as I didn't want to be without them. I ordered the second lot about 3 weeks ago, and they are starting to get going now. I have them on window sills, in cupboards and wardrobes, and just on the floor in areas that seem to have a particular problem with damp, for instance in the hallway where the clothes airer stands when the whether's not good enough to hang washing outside.Obviously, they are more suited to small areas like cupboards, but I find they work just as well in large areas too. Just give them a few weeks to start working before you give up on them, would be my tip.I plan on buying more when this second lot are finished, I think they're a really great little product. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for moderate condensation problems *by G***M on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 March 2013* I bought a 5 pack of these dehumidifier pots 4 months ago in November. My house is a 1920's property without double walls,so we can't insulate. Unfortunately this means some of the rooms can get quite damp in places as condensation gathers in the cold spots.I watched the tubs with interest over a couple of weeks,I was delighted that the condensation in both my sons rooms appears dramatically reduced.8'x 11'and 15'x 12'- so not small. No mold, mildew or condensation on the windows or corners of the rooms. I genuinely feel the rooms don't have that damp chill to them either The same goes for 2 kitchen cupboards, the mold and mildew hasn't come back here either. This product seems to have worked really well in my home, I'm really pleased.I think they are superb value for money. It has got me through the worst of the winter months when everything is damp and cold anyway. I am now replacing them like for like as my pots have about 2 1/2cm of water in the bottoms, and the salts are starting to turn soft. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Superb for small and large spaces *by F***S on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 27 December 2013* I did not want the expense and running costs of an electric dehumidifier, and bought these to try out last year - and what a joy they are to own. They have so many uses and can be discretely tucked away whilst they silently do their job.Depending on the amount of moisture in the air, depends on how long they last, I have found one lasting 7 weeks in one place but filling up faster in another.I have mine placed around the home in the usual places where we get a little moisture in the air, but aside from this, I have also:Placed one in the car. Yes, the car. I left it in there over a particularly cold weekend, and instead of having to defrost the INSIDE of my windscreen, I came back to a dry car! I don't leave it in there all the time, just tend to pop it in there about once a month for a weekend and it does the job perfectly. The unit can then be taken and used indoors.Placed one on a shelf where there were some old books that had become slightly damp-smelly from being in the loft. One week later, dry books, no smell and a half filled unit.Placed one in a plastic box along with a couple of damp games, again from the loft, that were sporting a little mould. One week later, the dehumidifier unit was almost full, the games were bone dry and mould free.Placed one in the shoe cupboard and was surprised as to how much liquid it took from the air!Placed one next to my metal tools in the shed, then draped a cloth over the tools and unit to create a micro-climate. Result, no rusty tools.I could go on but I would bore you!
