If you came into manga like I did by reading the more familiar stories about ninja, demons and the like then this real-world story might initially seem a little slow. Do not be put off. This is definitely a story aimed at more mature readers and it takes its time to build up the tension. The story is dark but realistic and the character development is thorough and deep. I have only read the first two volumes of the manga but saw the anime version of this story probably about ten years ago and they both run identicaly (as best as I can recall). This version of the manga is top quality, the paper is not the cheap pulp stuff you find on some manga books. If this is your first manga then I would say it is a good place to start. The story is very clearly presented and the artwork is incredible. I find some manga confusing as there is far too much going on per page, too many speech bubbles and the characters sometimes look quite similar. In this case the characters are so well drawn that you can tell exactly what they are thinking by their expressions - the reality of the characters made me much more invested in the story, made me have much stronger feelings about who I liked and who I did not. I will be buying the rest of the series without doubt. Each character has their own plots and agendas and the author brings each alive with beautifully drawn panels. Expressions etched perfectly on each face, the dark back streets of Prague add to the feel of suspense and race against time. Seemingly small details hold huge significance. Once opened I couldn't put this book down and soon moved onto the next.
