And I've owned a lot of earphones... Probably like 10 pairs. If you're a bass head, get these you will not be disappointed. ### ⭐ Poor quality.. *by R***Y on 31 May 2016* From the day they arrived I was worried by the build quality which is plasticky with spindly fabric cables. The connection to the 35mm jack felt especially weak which is where the usual problems start with earphones. Unfortunately after one month of everyday use my suspicions were proved correct and one earphone began crackling and the sound dropped out becoming unbearable to listen in the end. The sound was pretty good for the price but that was with heavy equalisation pushing enfasis on the high and mid end. I listened to podcasts mainly and without equalisation the voices would have been too muddy. Based on how quickly they died and the build quality I can't recomend these at all. Let's start by pointing out that I was offered a pair of these for free in return for an honest review. And that's what you (and they) are going to get.Let's start with me, to give you some background. I listen to just about everything from classical, to punk, to Georgian choir, to throat music, to EDM. My headphones need to put up with a lot of complexity to suit me. I currently pack Shure 535s or Bose QC25s depending on background noise, and fidelity is important to me.So right off the bat, let's be clear that these phones carry the tagline "boost the bass", and that is important when you thing about buying them. They are built for bass.My musical tastes as mentioned are wide and varied, but at this point in my life I'm a bit of an electronica and EDM fan (progressive and trance mainly), and these things really can shine in this area because the bass is really well pronounced and balanced, however the mids are a bit flat and lacking soundscape, and the tops can be washed out - not because of competition on the drivers, but simply because of bias in the design. Tracks like Vaun's "Listen" really show up the contrast between the massive, competent bass delivery of these phones and their weak (to missing) upper mids and tops.Now it's not just that smashing your ears with bass is something Sennheiser can do for around the same price, and with better mids and tops to boot, that's not really the point - rather that most manufacturers have learned that pushing the bass to extremes creates a pair of headphones which you can only use with very specific track. Those of us with any variety in our playlists will suffer badly!The universally acclaimed Mrice E300A phones(which I also have as a cheap carry) can be had for 12.99, and though they might not have the exaggerated bass response, in terms of fidelity they will match kits which cost £100 or more.
