Review: It's pricey but when you need the best it's worth the cost - I originally had installed a standard £5 automatic gate latch on this, but the force of the gate closing kept on pulling out the screws of the rod bit of the latch. I tried fixing it twice by drilling into the gate and gluing in a hardwood dowel to which I would screw the rod to, but even that failed eventually. In the end I decided to bite the bullet and purchase this and haven't looked back. It may seem like a simple idea of having additional screws perpendicular to the direction of the force (i.e. screws in the side of the gate), but this is the only latch I could find which had this. And latch build quality it superb and the whole thing is solid and seems like it will last for years. It does also have a lock & key mechanism, but I don't bother using it on this small gate. Is this the way it is designed or is it faulty?** A: My key definitely comes out in the locked position. **Q: Is there a way to order multiple locks that use the same key? In a hardware store you can usually match the serial number etc** A: You can call 1.800.716.0888 for additional keys,...and they DO come with a 5 digit number on them **Q: It appears that the lock was made to be fitted with an inside opener latch, if so I need to purchase one ?** A: Margaret I’m too late to answer this question but you might read it anyway if you look at the latch with a little silver handle is the locks from the outside if you look at the top of that it has a hole in it is meant to be for cord or string to go through your fence and have an inside opening. You don’t have to buy nothing else just a string or cord hang a piece of wood on it to keep the string from flopping around too much and there you’ve got it. Sorry I didn’t answer this before **Q: Will this work in a horizontal position as well as in the vertical position?
