With a blooming period in spring, these seeds promise to bring a touch of exotic beauty to your home. ## Description TROPICA - Grandidier's Boabab (Adansonia grandidieri) - 4 Seeds Worth knowing: This probably most beautiful and tallest boabab can be found in Morombe and Morondava in the West of Madagascar. Majestically it stretches about 25 metres towards the sky. Its trunk is slender, reddish gray and fragrant. The crown grows flat and the large, white flowers mostly open at night. CuItivated as a pot or tub plant, it does need little water during summer and extremely little water from autumn until spring. The baobab sheds its leaves during periods of dryness. Origin: The Grandidier's baobab is indigenous to the West of Madagascar. Propagation: The seeds can be started indoors at any time throughout the year. Leave the seeds to soak in water at room temperature for about 24 hours before sowing and press them 1 cm deep into moist cultivation soil afterwards. Keep the soil moist, however not wet. With high temperatures of 23° to 27°C (radiator or heated miniature greenhouses) first seeds germinate after 3 to 7 weeks. Once the seed-leaves have shown, all growth above the surface seemingly stops, because the roots have to develop first. Place / Light: The baobab tolerates direct sun and loves bright and warm locations. Care: Water younger plants frequently and keep to longer periods of dryness with age. The soft wood is able to store water. Fertilization can be carried out every 4 to 6 weeks. The plant does also shed its leaves – but times do vary. Winter period: The trees should be positioned in a bright spot and temperatures should not drop below 15°C.
